Terms
Upshard is free, with no tiers, no paywalls, and nothing to buy. These terms are short because there is not much to agree to.
Using the site
You can browse every roadmap and lesson without an account. Creating one — through GitHub, Google, or a one-time email link — only exists to save your progress, bookmarks, and notes across visits. You're responsible for keeping access to whichever sign-in method you use, and for anything that happens under your account.
Don't try to break the site, scrape it abusively, or use it to harm anyone else. Beyond that, there are no usage restrictions worth listing.
Your notes and bookmarks
Notes you write are yours. We store them so they're there next time you sign in, we don't read them for any purpose beyond that, and they are never published, shared, or shown to anyone but you. Delete your account and they're gone immediately — see the privacy page for the full account of what's stored and how to get it back or remove it.
Content and licensing
Upshard's own code is MIT-licensed and its own written content — roadmap structure, lesson pages, formulas — is CC BY-SA 4.0. Both are onthe repository, free to read, fork, and reuse under those licenses.
Lessons embed videos from YouTube; we don't host, own, or control them. Each one credits its creator, playback is subject to YouTube's own terms, and a creator who wants their video removed gets that without argument — seereporting a link.
No warranty
Upshard is built and maintained as best-effort, unpaid work. Roadmaps and lessons are provided as-is: we try hard to keep links alive and picks good, but we don't guarantee accuracy, availability, or that any given video stays reachable. The site and its content come with no warranty of any kind, and to the extent the law allows, we're not liable for anything that results from using it.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, the date above moves and the change is visible in the repository'shistory like everything else here. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
